Extreme Choice fee hits record $330,000 after stellar season

Extreme Choice, the sire of Melbourne Cup and Blue Diamond winners this season, has had his service fee raised to $330,000 for 2025.

This equals the Australian service fee record set by his grandsire Redoute’s Choice in 2007 and 2008.

Newgate Farm managing director Henry Field praised Extreme Choice, noting his remarkable Group 1 winners-to-runners ratio of over 4%.

“He’s probably been the most elite stallion we’ve seen in this country since Danehill and Redoute’s Choice,” Field said.

Extreme Choice’s offspring continue to impress, with his yearlings averaging $490,000 last year. Despite fertility challenges, his results are extraordinary.

Other Newgate stallions have seen fee reductions, including Capitalist and Russian Revolution, while Stay Inside sees a rise.

Newgate’s focus on supporting smaller breeders amid tough economic conditions is also evident in their 2025 fee structure.
