Promising three-year-old colt Botanist has topped Wednesday’s Magic Millions Digital Sale, selling for $55,000.
The son of Wootton Bassett was secured by NSW Northern Rivers-based Viva Racing in partnership with bloodstock agent Neil Jenkinson from the Coolmore Stud draft.
Botanist, out of Group-winning mare Tulip, has shown ability early in his career, registering a win at Warwick Farm from just five starts and shaping as a horse with upside for his new connections.
Elsewhere in the sale, Jack Bruce Racing and Clarke Bloodstock made an early move, purchasing the opening lot Crusader Voyage for $45,000.
Offered by Chris Waller Racing, the consistent performer has placed in six of his 10 starts and is a half-brother to triple international Group 1 winner Warm Heart, being out of Sea Siren.
Magic Millions Head of Digital Bryce Bevan said the market responded strongly to the right types.
“We saw some very good results in the sale but overall the market well and truly identified the ones they wanted,” Bevan said.
“We have a good track record of moving on horses post-sale and that is where our attention will be for the next few days.”
The results once again highlighted the platform’s ability to connect buyers with horses offering both immediate racing potential and longer-term value.
