Star Queensland mare to stay in England

Australian mare Houtzen will have one more race in England in the Group Two King George Stakes at Goodwood for a new trainer.

Houtzen finished eighth in the Group One Kingโ€™s Stand at Royal Ascot last week after slipping at the start.

Trainer Toby Edmonds has announced she will contest the five furlong (1000m) sprint on August 2 for Martyn Meade before being served by Lope De Vega to southern hemisphere time.

Another Australian mare, the Paul Messara-trained Ortensia, won the 2012 King George.

Battaash, runner-up to Blue Point in the Kingโ€™s Stand, has won the race for the past two years.

Houtzen is a two time G3 winner although her feature race win came in the rich Magic Millions Classic.
