Mystic Journey injured, requires surgery

Star Tasmanian mare and inaugural All Star Mile winner Mystic Journey will miss the remainder of the Autumn carnival after sustaining an injury in the G2 Blamey Stakes at Flemington.

Mystic Journey will require surgery to remove bone chips from one of her knees which were detected after she pulled up with bruising following her run in the Blamey Stakes on Saturday.

โ€œItโ€™s very unfortunate, we knew something was wrong because she didnโ€™t finish off (in the Blamey) as she normally does,โ€ Roser told Racing.com.

โ€œSheโ€™s got chips and bruising in her knee so that will unfortunately be her campaign this time so sheโ€™ll be out for four months after the operation which we hope is on Thursday (in Tasmania) and then will allow her time to recoup.

Mystic Journeyโ€™s owner Wayne Roser will give the mare four months off following her surgery and bring his star mare back for a Spring preparation.

Trainer Adam Trinder had been aiming the star Tasmanian mare at the All Star Mile but after two shock defeats in Tassie prior to her trip to Melbourne he was forced to run her in the Blamey Stakes in hope she would gain automatic entry into the $5m All Star Mile at The Valley on march 13th.
