Former Melbourne Cup contender Mark Twain is making strong progress in his rehabilitation from a tendon injury, with OTI Racing optimistic about his return to racing.
OTI Racing director Terry Henderson confirmed the gelding is nearing the end of a rehabilitation program under the care of Matty Williams, with a 70% success rate for similar cases.
“He’s close to the end of his rehabilitation with Matty Williams and he looks good as he finishes off,” Henderson said.
Mark Twain will spend six weeks in the paddock before returning to Williams for light work, followed by a slow build-up with trainer Roger James ahead of a 2025 Melbourne Cup campaign.
“The process has worked well,” Henderson added.
“If you can get them back for four or five runs, we call it a success, so fingers crossed.”
Meanwhile, his three-quarter brother Samuel Langhorne is set to resume racing at Ballarat this Saturday.
