Eye cancer no match for Apache Cat

Itโ€™s a fantastic day for horse racing enthusiasts and the Living Legends family, as Apache Cat, the eight-time Group 1 winner, is officially cancer-free.

Two years ago, in November 2021, Apache Cat, affectionately known as โ€˜Patch,โ€™ underwent surgery and radiation treatment to address a squamous cell carcinoma in his right eye. This type of cancer is more common in horse breeds with a lack of pigment around the eye.

Living Legends shared an update on social media, stating, โ€œWe are thrilled to announce that a recent check-up with Dr. Turner, two years later, confirmed that there is no sign of the original cancer.โ€

They also expressed their gratitude for the expert care provided by eye specialist Dr. Andrew Turner from All Animal Eye Services, saying, โ€œWe feel incredibly fortunate to have access to such excellent specialist services provided by Dr. Turner and his team.โ€

The team at Living Legends, where Patch resides, is overjoyed with the positive outcome and remains committed to providing the best possible care for his continued wellbeing.

โ€œPatch is such an important part of the Living Legends family, and we are overjoyed to share this positive news with our supporters.

โ€œWe will continue to provide him with the best possible care and attention to ensure his continued wellbeing,โ€ the statement read.

Now 20 years old, the Greg Eurell-trained galloper remains an important and beloved member of the Living Legends family.
