Everest contender could be dropped

An Everest slot holder is set to be looking for other options with the intention to drop the horse that occupies the slot.

Slot holder Damion Flower is said to be looking at other options for his Everest slot despite already announcing English would race for him in the $13m Everest.

Damion Flower has said that his contract with English’s owner stipulated the slot can be dumped at any stage if the mare is racing below her best.

It is likely that Flower will replace English with either Moir Stakes winner Viddora or 3YO Zousain.

English finished last of four in a trial before Monday’s race meeting at Randwick with Koenig and fellow vet James Mizzi finding the mare to be grade 1/5 lame in her near fore leg.

English will be examined by Racing NSW veterinarians later this week and will need a clearance before she races again.
