Black Caviar nominated for Arrow Training Services Plate

Caulfield trainer Peter Moody is set to take the wraps off Black Caviar on Saturday with the filly nominated for the Listed Arrow Training Services Plate at Moonee Valley.

Black Caviar created a huge impression with her two wins in late autumn and was nominated for last Saturday’s Quezette Stakes at Caulfield but was held back a week by Moody to avoid a clash with Golden Slipper runner-up Headway.

Moody has also nominated Speedy Natalie for the $100,000 event to give her the opportunity to bounce back from her unplaced run in The Rosebud at Rosehill on August 1.

Flemington trainer Danny O’Brien has 12 of the 18 nominations for the listed Essendon Nissan Stakes (1200m) including the promising debut winner Cabeza.

O’Brien said he will test “half a dozen” of the three-year-olds nominated in gallops at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning before deciding which of the 12 will take their place in the $100,000 feature.

Cups contenders nominated include the Jarrod McLean-trained pair Cats Fun and Kibbutz, who will make his debut for the stable in the 1519-metre open handicap.

Kibbutz, the 2007 Victoria Derby winner, was formerly trained by David Hayes but was moved to McLean’s Warrnambool stable to be prepared on the beach to help the gelding’s recurring feet issues.
