Alligator Blood nears racing return

Star galloper Alligator Blood is set to take another step towards his racing return next week, with the seven-time Group 1 winner scheduled for an unofficial jumpout in Sydney next Tuesday.

Now under the care of Chris Waller, the eight-year-old gelding is expected to progress to a trial following the jumpout, with a potential first-up run in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick next month.

Owner Jeff Simpson confirmed that the stable is pleased with how Alligator Blood is tracking after recovering from a serious injury that has kept him off the track since the Group 1 Champions Mile in 2023.

โ€œHeโ€™s going alright,โ€ Simpson said.

โ€œHeโ€™s doing everything right and showing that he still wants to do it, but weโ€™ll just see how he goes and bring him up slowly.โ€

Alligator Blood is currently a $13 chance in early betting markets for the All Aged Stakes, which is set to be run on April 19. Broadsiding is the current race favourite at $7.
