One of the feature races at the Sunshine Coast this Saturday is the Winx Guineas (1600m), where the market says Within The Law is clearly the one to beat. The Bjorn Baker-trained filly has been heavily backed after dropping back in grade and heads betting with leading Aussie betting sites as she looks to return to the winner’s stall.

2026 Winx Guineas Runner Preview:
1. Platinum Pantheon: Got a great ride at Ipswich and was there to win but just missed. Tricky gate, query at the mile…not for me.
2. Call Da Vinci: SCR
3. Hillier: He is the big improver from Ipswich because he just got too far back from the wide gate. Now from a good draw, can settle much closer…dangerous for sure.
4. Kohler Kid: Blessed to win at Ipswich and is flying but I have others ahead of him.
5. Cellarmaster: Too far back in the Gunsynd and was good late. If he can be ridden with more intent, he’s a threat for sure.
6. Rustemo: Flying albeit has been well placed. Hard to knock the way he’s going, but gee, of all riders, Michael Rodd…goodness me.
7. Lyneham: Trip is no issue and is racing well, but I think lacks the class.
8. Special Artist: Wasn’t bad at Ipswich and can settle closer but not sure he’s going well enough.
9. Vandevelde: Home track advantage but he’s not going well enough.
10. Within The Law: The more I watch the replay of the Tatts Tiara, gee the run of Within The Law was enormous. It was near impossible to come wide from the back and swoop to win. She did an incredible job to get as close as she did to Splash Back. If she’s within range, she’ll be too good.
11. Tupakara: Tupakara didn’t do a bad job in the Gunsynd three weeks ago. She got a fair way out of her ground and while she was never threatening, she was far from disgraced in defeat. She was six weeks between runs there so with room for upside/improvement, she is in the mix.
12. State Opera: Nice filly but she’s not up to this level.
13. Hush Hush: Better suited in something easier.
14. Pink Vixen: Midweek horse.
15. Tinklejazz: SCR
16. Run To You: Nice filly who will be strong late but just not up to these.

They dragged back in the Gunsynd but I suspect they’ll be positive here with Cellarmaster. I think he potentially takes it up, with maybe inside pressure from Rustemo from a good draw. But overall, I don’t see much early front-end pressure.
