NZB yearling sale hit by cyber attack

The New Zealand Bloodstock National Online Yearling Sale has been disrupted by a cyber attack, leading to the auction being postponed by 24 hours.

The sale, which is conducted via NZB’s Gavelhouse Plus platform, will now recommence on Wednesday from 6pm (NZT).

New Zealand Bloodstock confirmed that the website experienced ongoing interference on Tuesday, impacting several lots and causing significant disruption for bidders.

“We apologise for the significant inconvenience caused and are working to ensure the issue is resolved quickly for a smoother bidding service tomorrow night,” NZB said.

All yearlings purchased through the online sale — the same auction that produced unbeaten galloper Well Written two years ago — remain eligible for nomination into NZB’s lucrative Karaka Millions Series.

In addition, the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Association has announced a one-off extension of its early bird offer for entries into the Entain-NZB Insurance Pearl Series for fillies offered in the National Online Yearling Sale.

Buyers will now have until 5pm (NZT) on Friday to take advantage of the discounted entry fee of $1,000 (plus GST), representing a saving of $500.
