Jockey out for excessive use of whip

Apprentice Tiffani Brooker’s biggest day a jockey has been soured by a seven-day suspension for excessive use of the whip.

Brisbane’s leading apprentice, Brooker rode a double on Saturday including her first stakes win on Dreams Aplenty who won the Group Three Gunsynd Classic by a nose.

Brooker pleaded guilty to using her whip on 17 occasions before the 100m, a number of which were in consecutive strides and 10 times inside the 100m.

She was suspended for seven days from next Saturday night until May 13 which means she will miss Doomben 10,000 day.
