Boom sprinter retired to stud

One time boom sprinter Spieth has been officially retired to stund at stud following his run in Saturdayโ€™s Stradbroke Handicap.

Spieth was touted as being one of the most exciting sprinters in Australia after his breathtaking finishes to run second in the Group 1 Darley Classic and the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap although he never hit the heights many thought he would.

Spieth will stand for a fee of $16,500 incl GST in 2018 at Aquis Hunter Valley.

โ€œSpieth retires as one of the unluckiest sprinters in recent times. We will be committing 30 of our very best mares to Spieth, highlighted by the dam of Gr.1 Stradbroke Handicap winner Santa Ana Lane. He will be limited to a book of 175 mares in his first season. There wonโ€™t be a better looking or better value First Season Sire in the Hunter this year than Spieth,โ€ says Shane McGrath, Aquis CEO.
