Jockey Bobby El-issa who was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer has returned to the saddle after a year on the sidelines with a winner at Orange today.
“I was on my death bed a couple of times,’’ El-Issa told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday. “I had AML — acute myeloid leukaemia — which is one of the worst cancers you can get. It was pretty bad.’’
The cancer is now in remission.
Bobby had six rides at Orange today with the placings as follows: 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 7th, 3rd.
