The 2019 Melbourne Cup wasn’t without its controversy as the protest between 4th and 2nd wast upheld changing the result of the race.
A protest between Il Paradiso (4th) was lodged against Master Of Reality (2nd) in the concluding stages of the race which was ultimately upheld.
The controversial part however was the fact that stewards lodged the protest and not the jockey of Il Paradiso Wayne Lordan or the horses connections with Il Paradiso trained by Aidan O’Brien and Master Of Reality trained by his father Joseph O’Brien.
