Nash Rawiller suspended at Gold Coast

Leading Sydney jockey Nash Rawiller has ended a horror day at the Gold Coast with a careless riding suspension.

Rawiller was first past the post in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic aboard the Gai Waterhouse-trained No Looking Back but lost the race on protest to stablemate Driefontein ridden by Tommy Berry.

Later in the day he won the Magic Millions Stayersโ€™ Cup on the Waterhouse-trained Kontiki Park but fell foul of stewards for his ride.

Stewards said Rawiller allowed Kontiki Park to shift abruptly approaching the first turn and caused severe interference to six runners including favourite Emvoss who almost fell.

Rawiller pleaded guilty to the charge and stewards suspended him for 12 meetings and fined him $2000.

Rawillerโ€™s suspension will begin after he rides Atomic Force in next Saturdayโ€™s Telegraph Handicap in New Zealand and he can resume riding on February 9.
