Corey Brown to ride in Mauritius challenge

Corey Brown will be one of several top Sydney jockeys missing from Saturday week’s Festival Stakes meeting after accepting an invitation to ride in a Mauritius jockeys’ challenge.

β€œI rode in it once before and it should be good,” Brown said.

β€œIt’s a two day thing next Saturday and Sunday. I know Frankie (Dettori) and Christophe Soumillon have also been invited so there’s a couple of big names there.”

Brown has a strong book of seven rides at Canterbury on Saturday but will be one of four of the top five Sydney jockeys absent from the Rosehill meeting on December 3.

Jim Cassidy and Kerrin McEvoy will still be sidelined by suspension while Glyn Schofield has picked up the ride on West Australian Guineas winner King Saul in the Group One Kingston Town Stakes (1800m) in Perth that day.
