The Rob Heathcote-trained Rothfire is headed to The TAB Everest at Royal Randwick on October 17 with MiRunners selecting the three-year-old gelding for their slot in the world’s richest race on turf.
Rothfire – currently $15 at TAB for The Everest – has raced seven times for six wins and one second with his most prominent win taking place last June in the 1400-metre Group 1 J.J. Atkins at Eagle Farm.
Before his win in the G1 J.J. Atkins, Rothfire scored an impressive win in the 1200-metre Group 2 Champagne Classic at Eagle Farm wtih his only defeat being in the QTIS Jewel which was won by star filly Kisukano.
Rothfire who is set to resume in the Run To The Rose won a trial over 840 metres at Doomben on August 11th by two-and-a-half lengths.
TAB’s representative for The TAB Everest, Nature Strip, is currently the $2.60 favourite.
