Spring is in the air at Rosehill this Saturday, with The Rosebud (1100m) highlighting a fab ten race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

5 Attractiveness (Bet Now: $1.80) seems the straight bat play. She won the Midway two weeks ago, giving her rivals a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Extra 100m is no issue, not harshly treated at the weights…she is a clear top seed.

7 Jonson (Bet Now: $9.50) is heading in the right direction for Team Conners. He has been freshened up since July 4 when winning his second race on the bounce with a narrow but impressive win at Wyong. Nice horse, lands on speed, dangerous.

2 Northern Eyes (Bet Now: $19.00) didn’t do a bad job when resuming two weeks back here behind Attractiveness. He got into a decent spot near the speed but was left flat footed when the sprint went on. He picked up and was okay late. Better set up here, not dismissing.

Good luck beating 3 Steel Will (Bet Now: $1.65). He didn’t beat much first up at Wyong but the manner in which he put them away and how strong he was…he has shown signs since day one of being top shelf and this race has produced a top shelf horse over the years. Keen.

4 Letters Patent (Bet Now: $6.50) was 1200m back to 1100m when racing at Randwick three weeks ago. He landed off speed and presented to win but just lacked the change up speed. Like him back up to 1300m, he commands respect.

2 Thrill Hunter (Bet Now: $10.00) ran fourth to Scintillation three weeks back at Randwick when first up. She had the suck run in behind and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there. Not sure she can win, but is one for exotics.

7 She Within (Bet Now: $15.00) is flying I think for Danny Williams. She was very good against the pattern here two weeks ago, working home well from the back and out wide behind Wayburn. If the track is playing more fair, I think she’ll run a beauty.

16 Athena’s Treasure (Bet Now: $41.00) was a real eye catcher behind Wayburn in the Highway two weeks back at this track. She got to near last in the run but gee her finale was quite good. If she can be within range, she can launch late.

2 Brooklyn Lights (Bet Now: $13.00) comes to Highway grade off the back of a first up win on the Acton track at Canberra, leading throughout and had enough in hand to score. Good racing style, good upside, he appeals.

11 Leovanni (Bet Now: $5.00) is racing so well at the moment and is top seed. She ran over the mile last Saturday at Randwick and closed with purpose from off speed when second to The Mona Lisa. Only has to hold her form and she’ll take beating.

8 Kenmare Bay (Bet Now: $4.50) hit the line well last start over 1600m. He will improve here with the step up in distance and should be rock hard fit after three runs this preparation. He will get the run of the race from the barrier being able to sit a bit closer to the speed in this and will be hard to hold out late.

7 Yamato Satona (Bet Now: $9.00) is the horse in the race that looks to have the most upside stepping out in trip. Bred to get the distance and will appreciate the drop in weight from last start despite this race being a tougher contest. He showed plenty of ability in NZ early in his career and he could be the big improver.

3 Aisle Two (Bet Now: $7.00) was pretty good in defeat a few weeks ago here behind Astronomix when third, sitting off speed and working home pretty well late in the piece. Like him up to 1400m and with good upside to come, he appeals.

4 Transcend (Bet Now: $4.20) is a fruit loop upstairs. She has the talent but mentally, she is nowhere near there. She resumed on the Kenso and was good late from the back, just running out of condition. Fitter, kind map, her best is good enough.

2 Storm Season (Bet Now: $34.00) was just fair a few weeks back over the mile at Flemington, getting into a decent spot off speed and tried hard but just whacked late. I do think 1600m at this level is a bridge too far so back to 1400m suits, she can run an improved race.

13 Street Artist (Bet Now: $3.50) was a few weeks between runs when racing down the straight at Flemington several weeks ago when near the front of the pack and tried hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece behind Prima Bella/Along The River. Fitter, let him run, he can take this out.

4 Kimberley Secrets (Bet Now: $5.00) jumps on the bunny and runs a bold race, as seen two weeks back at this track/distance, sitting on speed and tried her guts out but was nabbed late by Annie’s Rose. Good racing style, she’ll give plenty of cheek.

7 Harry Got Styles (Bet Now: $34.00) is a Matt Laurie trained galloper which is a very interesting horse in this race. The stable would not travel one from Melbourne if they weren’t confident of running well. His form suggests he will need to improve to be winning but I would not overlook the stables decision to run here. Big watch at odds.

3 Grand Impact (Bet Now: $7.50) ran a beauty behind Roselyn’s Star a few weeks back here when first up, closing well when second. He’ll love getting to 1200m and with good upside to come, he’s one of the hardest to beat.

5 Hawker Hall (Bet Now: $2.00) was a game first up winner at Randwick. Credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Good upside/improvement to come, he appeals.

6 Torque To Be Sure (Bet Now: $15.00) should be better for the first up run behind Hawker Hall. He got beaten for speed and was never a winning threat but was good late. Better set up here, he’s dangerous here at odds.

15 Royal Exile (Bet Now: $14.00) is a big price here for mine. Yes, he beat nothing first up in the Springboard at Grafton, but he smashed them and ran very good time relative to the meeting, which included a strong Class 6. Always a good sign when a 2YO can run good time relative to the meeting and I think off a hot speed here, he’ll be strong at the end.

3 Central Europe (Bet Now: $5.50) is a very interesting runner. Chris Waller trained colt that tried to get into the Slipper in the Autumn but couldn’t quite get the job done to qualify. Been given a good break and his trial work has been super. Commands respect.

10 Castillo King (Bet Now: $4.80) comes here off the back of a mini freshen up, which saw him win quite impressively on debut at the midweeks at Warwick Farm. Tick over trial last week was pretty good, fitness on his side, he gets a great chance to pinch blacktype.

10 Sir Artie (Bet Now: $8.00) is humming for Team Archibald. He found the right lanes at Eagle Farm three weeks ago but even allowing for that, he made a mess of them and the form has been franked via Anemacore. Right down in the weights…hoping for a positive ride. He’ll win if that eventuates.

Class is going to carry 1 Attica (Bet Now: $3.20) a long way. It was a funny Autumn prep where he threatened to do nice things but the wheels fell off. His trial work has been quite sharp and with the class edge, he commands respect.

6 Franz Josef (Bet Now: $26.00) is an interesting runner in this race. His early form in his career was very good promting the stable to run in black type races. He couldn’t really match it in those races which has seen a bit of a form drop off against tougher competition. Back to a winnable race here. I expect him to improve a lot at good odds.

10 Tarzing (Bet Now: $2.80) was a total forgive from two weeks ago at this track/distance. He was back and off the fence on a day where up/in was dynamite. That was his first run in several weeks so with good upside/improvement, he takes beating.

6 Felix Majestic (Bet Now: $9.50) will jump on the bunny and take running down, as seen a fortnight back at this track/distance where he scooted along in front and looked the winner for a few strides but was run down late by Steel Strike. Good racing style, he’ll run a beauty.

4 Mr Verse (Bet Now: $4.50) should appreciate getting to 1400m after resuming over 1200m down the straight a few weeks ago at Flemington and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and finding the line in defeat. Good upside and rising in trip, he’s one of the hardest to beat.
