A bumper ten race card has been set down for Wyong this Saturday, headlined by The Lakes (1600m). The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:35) Heritage Real Estate Hcp 1200m
3 Namaste (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) for me in the opener. Bjorn Baker trains ths well bred son of Savabeel, who looks as though he will get better as the distances increase, but his trial win from the front was good. What I liked is that when he was asked for the effort, he found and was strong to the line. Happy to be in his corner.
2 Damien (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a Hellbent colt for Kris Lees that is on debut. He has two trials under the belt, running fourth each time. Latest came at Rosehill over 900m and he seemed to move well enough to my eye. Kris Lees is going really well with his juveniles so watch the market.
7 Gail Jeanette (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) comes through the Inglis Nursery where she was first up and despite being a massive price, I thought she ran a very credible race in defeat behind Within The Law after not getting the clearest of paths in the straight. Interesting to see how she goes against these.
Race 2. (13:10) Central Coast Mayor's Midway (Bm72) 1600m
8 Edmond (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is racing well for Kim Waugh. He is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Kembla when off the speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Magic Stalker. Hard fit now and with the 1600m run under the belt, he appeals.
3 Magnatear (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a quirky animal but he has talent. First run for Team Freedman came a fortnight back in the Midway at Randwick when on speed and tried hard but had no answers late for the finale of Emmadella. Good upside/improvement to come, he takes beating here.
2 General Soho (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Paul Perry since contesting a Midway at Randwick when off speed and kept chasing in a game effort in defeat I thought behind Rapt. Maps to settle in a beaut spot off the speed and gets a senior rider on.
Race 3. (13:45) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1100m
3 Kreon (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a good horse for Danny Williams and he looks placed to advantage here fresh. He was poorly placed towards the end of last prep, with eyes towards The Kosciuszko, where he didn’t quite measure up in the big one. He resumes here and loved the way he moved in a recent Goulburn trial.
7 Announcing (Bet Now: $SP.00) is suited back to 1100m after racing over 1200m at Randwick last time when near the speed throughout and tried hard but just couldn’t quite run out the six furlongs behind Sir Remlap. Back in trip is ideal, good racing style and prior efforts were good enough to take out a race like this.
1 Duke Of Bronte (Bet Now: $SP.00) will land on the bunny and run a bold race. They rode with a sit at Randwick last time out and it didn’t work out as she failed to finish the race off and was a bit on the plain side late in the piece behind Ticklebelly. If she leads and rolls, that is when she races best.
Race 4. (14:20) Domeland (Bm100) 1350m
Joe Pride rarely misfires with a horse on the seven day back up so with that in mind, I am with 6 Excelladus (Bet Now:Â $SP.00). He ran last Saturday at Randwick and although safely held by stablemate Accredited when third, he stayed on and was quite good in defeat. Getting towards peak fitness, down in the weights and he swims, so if the rain comes, he could very much be a good thing.
4 Geriatrix (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) has room for upside/improvement for Chris Waller. First run for the stable came three weeks ago at Randwick. He got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was quite good in defeat. Better for that under the belt, he appeals.
7 Political Debate (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of So You Think that resumes for Chris Waller. He hasn’t raced since Aug 24 when down the track, producing an end of prep run in the Premiers Cup. Better suited over further but has trialled well and should be strong late.
Race 5. (14:55) Wyong Equine Clinic (Bm78) 1100m
3 Dollar Magic (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a ripper for Scott Singleton and back to 78 grade, she rates highly. She comes through the Canterbury Sprint when wide no cover throughout but she stayed on and was sound enough in defeat behind Iowna Merc. Better for that run and back to this level, she takes beating.
6 Bonita Queen (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a speed demon for Bjorn Baker that comes here fresh. Her last run came over 1100m at Warwick Farm on Oct 7 when leading and giving a strong kick but had no answers late for a Stakes class horse of the future, Fire Star. Trial work has been sharp, lands on speed and will run well.
2 Audette (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a beauty for Kylie Gavenlock. Loved the way she toughed it out to win on Boxing Day at Randwick. She was on speed throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and win. Good racing style and back to Mares grade, she appeals.
Race 6. (15:30) Central Coast Community News (Bm72) 1300m
2 Invader Zim (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) has done little wrong in seven career outings and should prove hard to beat after resuming over 1200m at Randwick two weeks ago. He got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but had no answers late for Disneck, who is flying and in form. Fitter and up in trip, he takes holding out.
12 Point And Shoot (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) appeals. Bjorn Baker trains this three year old, who was a strong maiden winner two back at Nowra before going to Randwick when off speed and was hailed as the winner, but just found one better in Unstopabull. Racing well and is hard to beat against these.
7 August Bloom (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She was fair fresh behind the very much in form Disneck before going to Randwick again two weeks back when a fair way out of her ground and did make up minor headway without threatening. Hard fit now, her best is good enough.
Race 7. (16:05) De Bortoli Wines (Bm88) 2100m
4 Zaphod (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Kris Lees since a strong win over 1800m at Eagle Farm where he got a peach steer from Mallyon and despite the final margin being narrow, he was impressive. Racing like 2100m will be no issue and has upside/scope unlike most engaged here.
6 Bullets High (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win one but just keeps finding one or two better. He ran two weeks ago over 2000m at Randwick where he was near the speed and presented to win but just found Saltcoats and Claim The Crown too good, finishing third. Not a deep race this so I say he’s hard to beat.
8 Unlimited (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Chris Waller after winning last Saturday at Randwick where he got off speed but was able to slice his way through under Parr and finished best to win and win well. His confidence is up, hard fit, he can go on with it.
Race 8. (16:40) The Lakes 1600m
If the forecast is right, this track will be genuinely soft/heavy for the weekend. So with that, I want to find something that will be a) strong late and b) handle wet ground. 9 Spangler (Bet Now: $SP.00) fits that criteria. Forget his Ingham run. Got too far back, apprentice on…forget the run. Better set up here I feel and he swims, is hard fit and the tick over trial was strong.
13 Highlights (Bet Now: $SP.00) will land near the front and run a beauty. He was game in defeat three weeks ago at Randwick. He was near the speed and tried hard to get there but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Ang Pow. He’s racing well, stable flying, good racing style…can win for sure.
3 Palmetto (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1600m after resuming three weeks back over 1400m at Randwick when wide no cover throughout and that early burn just told on him late in the piece when down the track behind Ang Pow. Better set up here and he has class on his side.
Race 9. (17:20) Nbn News (Bm78) 1200m
11 Unstopabull (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is the straight bat play. He dug in with real purpose to win at Randwick two weeks ago, finsihing best from off the speed to nail just get the win over Point And Shoot. He was only second up there so with room for improvement and wet track on the cards, he takes beating.
5 Sandpaper (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with James Cummings, he now finds himself with Bjorn Baker and we know the record this stable has when it comes to improving a tried horse. His trial work to get ready has been quite good, he handles wet ground…big market watch.
4 Sir Ravanelli (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Terry Evans that comes back to metro level after a dominant win over 1000m at Muswellbrook last time where he made a mess of them after sitting near the speed. He has measured up in town before and this isn’t a deep race.
Race 10. (18:00) Royal Hotel Wyong (Bm78) 1350m
4 Yorkshire (Bet Now: $SP.00) does look to have a bit on these. He resumed three weeks asgo at Randwick and chased strongly in the straight, surging late but couldn’t quite get past Accredited in a driving go. He has good upside/improvement, he drops big time in depth IMO, and if the rain comes…it’s a case of good luck beating him.
11 Noble Conqueror (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) looks to have returned in pretty good order and should take beating here after a first up win at Randwick on Boxing Day. He had a suck run in transit. Just a matter of getting clear air and once that eventuated, he finished best to win and win well. Good upside to come, strikes a winnable race. Hard to beat.
10 Silentstar (Bet Now: $SP.00) will land on the bunny and give a bold sight. He hasn’t raced since Nov 29 when on speed on testing ground at Pakenham and he stayed on well enough in defeat I thought behind Romeo’s Choice. Has run well here previously, good racing style, he appeals.
