Ex-pat Australian jockey Zac Purton has racked up his 900th winner in Hong Kong after a five-win haul at Sha Tin.
The winner of his second Hong Kong premiership last season, Purton reached the milestone in Sundayβs final race.
Douglas Whyte, who is still riding, holds the record of 1809 with Purton closing in on second-placed Tony Cruz who retired with 946.
βI came to Hong Kong hoping to ride one winner and here we are over a decade later with 900. Itβs very satisfying,β Purton said.
βIβve got him (Cruz) in my sights now.β
βI came here thinking I had a pretty average book of rides. I thought if I had one Iβd be happy, and here I am with five on the day. Sometimes you canβt pick it.β
Purton leads Karis Teetan by 12 in this seasonβs premiership battle and won two of the four Group One races at the International meeting a week ago, taking the Vase on Exultant and the Mile on Beauty Generation.
