Arrowfield Stud has continued to strengthen its broodmare band, securing Kingman mare Fiorenza for $325,000 at Thursday’s Inglis Digital (Late) May Online Sale.
The rising six-year-old topped the sale and will join the Hunter Valley nursery after attracting strong interest thanks to her elite pedigree and residual value.
Fiorenza is a half-sister to four-time Grade 1-winning American turf star In Italian and stakes performer Villa Carlotta, while also being out of Group 3-winning mare Florentina, a daughter of Redoute’s Choice.
The purchase comes just a day after the John Messara-led operation was active at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast, underlining Arrowfield’s ongoing investment in high-quality breeding stock.
The second highest-priced lot of the Inglis Digital sale was Group 2-winning colt West Of Swindon, who sold for $310,000.
The son of Wootton Bassett, who captured the Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley during the spring, was purchased by Pure Bloodstock.
West Of Swindon was offered through Ciaron Maher Racing on behalf of his ownership group led by Qatar Racing.
The strong results highlight continued demand for quality bloodstock, particularly mares with international pedigrees and race-performing colts with future stallion or racing appeal.
