Watch: Star filly lives up to hype on debut

She was backed as if unbeatable after an impressive trial and the Chris Waller trained Funstar did not let punters down winning with a leg in the air.

Funstar had three trials heading into her debut at Canterbury with her last being very impressive and punters didnโ€™t miss her. She opened at $4.20 with Sportsbet on Monday and was crunched into $1.90 at the jump and punters were never worried winning with ease.

Funstar races in the colours of her older half sister Youngstar and the daughter of Cox Plate winner Adelaide certainly looks like she can follow in the footsteps of her sister who is a Group One winner and started favourite in last years Caulfield Cup.

She started a well-supported $1.90 favourite on the strength of promising barrier trial showings.

โ€œSheโ€™s a very smart filly and has shown that in her trials,โ€ Waller said.

โ€œBeing by Adelaide suggests distance wonโ€™t be a problem and thatโ€™s why we rode her back today.โ€
