Exciting two-year-old colt Tentyris won’t be seen again this season with Anthony & Sam Freedman confirming the son of Street Boss had pulled up with an issue after his fast-finishing win in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.
“Tentyris was found to be lame after his impressive win in the Group 2 Todman Stakes at Randwick on Saturday. A thorough vet’s assessment has revealed an injury to his left hind leg,” the stable announced in a social media post.
“Unfortunately, this will put an end to his autumn campaign, and he will not take his place in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.”
“This is very disappointing for the horse and his connections. He is a very exciting colt going forward and we look forward to having him back for the 2025 Spring Carnival.”
Tentyris, who dead-heated with Shining Smile to win the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m), went agonisingly close to winning the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield when missing Devil Night by a half head.
He then defeated race-favourite Wodeton at Randwick on Saturday, who has eased to $5 for the Golden Slipper, sharing favouritism with Saturday’s Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) winner Tempted.
Under brother Lee’s name, Anthony Freedman helped prepare the Golden Slipper winner in four consecutive years between 1993-1996 but son Sam is yet to win the world’s richest two-year-old race, finishing sixth with Artorius in 2021 and fourth with Daumier in 2022.
