Blake Shinn shapes as a key beneficiary of the postponement of Saturday’s Rosehill meeting with the top Melbourne rider snapped up to fill vacancies created by James Mcdonald’s inability to ride at the meeting.
McDonald, who was engaged for a number of key chances at Saturday’s fixture, has commitments in Dubai during the week and is not available for Tuesday’s rescheduled card.
Zac Lloyd has replaced McDonald aboard Chris Waller-trained filly Movin’ Out, who is second favourite for the, $750,000 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes but Shinn will now partner imported mare River Of Stars, who is also trained by Waller, in the $1.5 million Group 1 Tancred Stakes.
Shinn only became available to chase a maiden Tancred Stakes win after the meeting was rescheduled, having ridden at the Australian Cup meeting at Flemington last Saturday.
Shinn also replaces McDonald aboard the Kris Lees-trained Brudenell in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes and Peter Snowden’s Quietly Arrogant in the Group 3 TL Baillieu Handicap.
Another top Melbourne jockey replaces McDonald aboard the Waller-trained Scarlet Oak in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes with Damian Lane landing the ride on the second favourite.
Lane, who was always committed to the Rosehill meeting due to his connection with Vinery Stud Stakes favourite Treasurethe Moment, has also been called up by Anthony and Sam Freedman for Green Fly in the final event.
Movin’ Out is not the only ride of McDonald’s that Lloyd has picked up with the young gun also called-up for the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained King Of Thunder in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes and Marc Conners’ Willaidow in the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude.
