The training operation of Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young will send two of their most promising stayers north to Sydney this weekend for the Group One Spring Champion Stakes.

Co-trainer Trent Busuttin believes Albarado and Wertheimer have strong chances in the Spring Champion Stakes, although he says the race has been made tougher with Cherry Tortoni and Montefilia accepting.

He said he’s keen to win it as the stable has had two placings in the race previously with Sully and Sangster.

β€œWertheimer was a good thing beaten last start and Albarado got flushed out a bit early and would have won if he could have been held up a bit longer,” Busuttin said.

β€œThis race fits in really well with their main aim, which is the Victoria Derby.”

The market has Wertheimer as the pairs best chance with the Tavistock gelding $16 with Sportsbet whilst Albarado is $27 in betting.
