Champion Australian mare Atlantic Jewel has sadly passed away after giving birth to a foal by Justify.
Atlantic Jewel suffered a fatal haemorrhage whilst giving birth to a colt by US Triple Crown winner Justify.
Coolmore broke the news on social media overnight.
“Sadly we lost the brilliant Atlantic Jewel last night when she haemorrhaged after foaling.
“It is very sad news but she did leave behind a cracking Justify colt who is doing well.” Tom Moore told ANZ Bloodstock News
Atlantic Jewel won 10 of her 11 career starts including the Thousand Guineas and amassed $1.5m in prizemoney.
