Watch: Plunge horse misses jump by 10L, nearly wins

Here’s another good thing beaten video.

And this just may be the best one you’ve seen.

To set it up before you watch, look at the opening of the video. You’ll see a horse named STRAWB (Fastnet Rock-Joy Toy) being loaded into the extreme widest gate.

She is the last one to go in and has been backed from $4.00 into $1.60 with Sportsbet and other bookies. Jock is out of the saddle and standing on the structure.

When he settles into the saddle, she is fidgety, and throwing her head around.

The gates fly open, and she rears, stands there a moment and comes out 10 lengths behind the pack.

After 400m she is still 9 lengths behind the 2nd last horse.

Ok, watch the video now.

She eventually tacks onto the field, then exacerbates the earlier dilemma by moving up out wide and turning 5-deep. But then she sprints and looms to win the race.

At the 200m she looks the winner. But the run slightly peters out, despite still making ground on the leader, and she winds up 5th.

She is a 4YO mare trained at Newcastle by Nathan Doyle. This was just her 4th race start.

Strawb is eligible for Class 2 and BM 58 races.

No doubt she will have to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards following this run, but when you see her in…get on.
