A photo has captured a freak accident on during a jumps race in the UK with a large shard of wood embedded in a top hurdlers hoof.
The photo shows a shard of wood from a wooden hurdle piercing Top hurdler Buveur D’Air during the G1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle where he was the $1.15 favourite but suffered deefeat.
“He’s sore, and he’s bound to be because he’s had a huge segment of his hoof removed. He’s getting the best medical attention there is, and he’s comfortable, but it will take a long time to grow over.” his trainer said.
