The Mark Kavanagh trained Whobegotyou made punters earn their money after he only just managed to edge out Dao Dao in today’s Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.
After a slow get away Whobegotyou went back to the rear of the field and showed a solid turn of foot to defeat Dao Dao.
Fanjura was third, with three year old Roadtrain fourth.
It was Whobegotyou’s ninth win from 27 starts.
