Race 1. (12:35) Ranvet Hcp 1100m
1 Icarian Dream (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong in a two start career and commands respect after a strong debut win at Warwick Farm before going to the Golden Gift where she had little luck in the run but balanced up and kept finding the line in a really good effort. Hard fit, in form, good race experience, she rates highly.
9 The Playwright (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a daughter of Written By that is on debut for GaiBott. This girl has had two trials in readiness for the debut, the latest being a trial win over 900m when winning comfortably and ran decent enough time relative to the morning. Keen to see how she goes.
3 Bryant (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one to watch. He is a son of Brutal for Ron Quinton that debuts off the back of two trials, the latest seeing him finish fourth over 740m at Randwick and moved well enough to my eye. Stable is in good form so watch the market and see what it does.
Race 2. (13:10) Tab Highway Hcp (C2) 1100m
8 Cambar (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very promising colt for Gary Colvin that resumes. He is 2/2 to start his career, with the wins coming over 1000m at Wagga during the early part of the Spring. Been given a good break and really liked his recent trial. Hard to beat fresh.
9 Sir Remlap (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a horse on the up. Scott Singleton trained gelding that resumed on the home deck over 1100m at Scone, giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. He is a horse with good promise and despite staying at 1100m, he’s a leading contender.
13 Love Of Air (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a short course type and is one to be included at odds. I thought she did more than enough at Goulburn last time on testing ground, doing work in the run and fighting on really well in defeat. Maps ideally and with the claim, she’ll only run well at odds.
Race 3. (13:45) Midway (Bm72) 2000m
12 Waverley (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 2000m but he is a horse who does have talent. Totally forgiving of his run at Goulburn last time. The race was pretty much a barrier trial and Latham rode him very negatively, so forgive and forget. Prior efforts were good enough to take this out.
3 Sonofdec (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one wanting 2000m. He comes through the Harlow Mist Midway from a fortnight back at Newcastle. He was ridden a touch too warm I thought and it took something away from his finale, tiring late. Prior runs were quite good and he is racing like he will love the step up.
9 Cosmic Lad (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 2000m will suit and he does have a touch of quality about him. He ran over the mile two weeks ago in the Midway at Newcastle when ridden with more intent to land on speed but it backfired, tiring to finish down the track behind Harlow Mist. Think with a more patient steer, 2000m should be okay and strikes a winnable race.
Race 4. (14:20) Precise Air (Bm78) 1400m
6 Terrestar (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door. She looked the winner when presented at Newcastle but just couldn’t quite get past Watch My Girl, who found under pressure to fend them off and win. Home track advantage and with a kind map in her corner, she rates highly.
2 Melody Again (Bet Now: $SP.00) is absolutely flying for Scott Singleton and is bursting to win in town. Got too far back at Newcastle two weeks ago but I really liked the way she finished her race off in defeat behind Watch My Girl. If she can settle closer, or get a drag into the race, she’s going to take beating. Just wish there was a rider change.
5 Pippie Beach (Bet Now: $SP.00) returns to her home track and with that in mind, I say she commands respect as a threat although she has been costly to punters in recent times, the latest at Newcastle behind Watch My Girl where she had every chance but was a bit on the plain side late in the piece. If the breaks go her way, she can win.
Race 5. (14:55) Chandon Garden Spritz (Bm78) 1800m
3 Bullets High (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win for Joe Pride and he gets his chance here. He should have won two weeks ago at Newcastle but was slaughtered by Nash, gave up several lengths and charged late, just missing out on picking up Dazzle Legend. Up in trip is perfect and with a half positive ride, I think good luck beating him.
10 Harlow Mist (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it for John Sargent after winning a fortnight back at Newcastle in the Midway, finishing best to win and win well under Nash. The rise to 1800m looks ideal and with upside/improvement, rates highly.
7 For Victory (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He comes through the Dazzle Legend race from two weeks back at Newcastle. He got back off the speed and tried hard to get involved and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was good in defeat. Good upside to come, I am not penning him.
Race 6. (15:30) Country Classic 2000m
10 King Kikau (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing really well at present for Wayne Wilkes and commands some level of respect. He comes through the Taree Cup where he got a fair way out of his ground but tracked through and loomed to win when presented but couldn’t quite see it through. He maps perfect and the stable did have a couple nominated, but they go with the sole rep here.
6 Belvedere Boys (Bet Now: $SP.00) is unknown at 2000m but off last run, I think he’ll appreciate it, and he does have the Matty Dunn polish. He ran over the mile last time out and worked home with real purpose in a good effort behind Bettcha The Crown at Doomben. Nash on, kind map and has a bit of quality on his side.
19 Blue Guitar (Bet Now: $SP.00) will likely get back but be strong late, as seen in the Highway two weeks back at Newcastle, giving them a start and a beating, producing a brilliant finale late to wear them down and win. He has won up to 2400m so 2000m is ideal and off last run, he has to be respected.
Race 7. (16:05) Starlight Stakes 1100m
10 Pereille (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one for me. He resumed at Randwick on Cup Day and I thought he was a total forgive, back and wide throughout, and really wasn’t there to play, but was good late in the piece behind Dragonstone. Fitter and up in trip, more positive ride, he’ll take beating.
5 Jedibeel (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take good improvement from the resumption at Randwick. He loomed to win when presented but just found one better in Dragonstone, who had race fitness on his side, found under pressure and was too good. He has a good racing style and should be around the mark.
11 In Flight (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Joe Pride trained mare that resumes and swims, so she does get conditions to suit to run a good race fresh. She is a track/distance specialist and her trial work to get ready has been quite good, plus she has a good racing style. Commands respect.
Race 8. (16:45) Festival Stakes 1500m
7 Xidaki (Bet Now: $SP.00) gets the nod for me. Peter Snowden trained four year old that comes through the Golden Eagle where he was outclassed but I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat beund Lake Forest. Back to this level looks ideal and if the rain comes, he will love getting his toe in.
6 St Lawrence (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Ciaron Maher. He has won two on the bounce, the latest being the Little Dance when sprouting wings late to nail Estadio Mestalla, who of course won last Saturday, so the form reads well, he is hard fit, and he swims. Likeable.
18 Uzziah (Bet Now: $SP.00) will put himself on speed and look to give his all. He was a strong al the way winner at Newcastle two weeks back and yes, had the pattern in his corner, but even allowing for that, he was impressive. Good racing style, handles wet ground and is right down in the weights.
Race 9. (17:20) Atc Cup 2000m
18 State Of America (Bet Now: $SP.00) has home track advantage and is in ripping form at present. He hasn’t raced for four weeks since a track/distance, producing good change up speed late to get the job done. Gets good weight relief, he has a turn of foot and handles all conditions, plus has been kept on ice for this race.
14 Townsend (Bet Now: $SP.00) has returned in super order for GaiBott. He did more than enough two back at Randwick when run down late after leading but he made amends in style at Newcastle two weeks ago, sitting on speed and he gave his rivals a spanking. The rise to 2000m is fine, will land on speed and take running down.
15 Floating (Bet Now: $SP.00) has won at 2000m previously and is racing well. He ran second to Townsend a fortnight back at Newcastle, chasing strongly from off the speed but he just couldn’t get involved and was never getting past the GaiBott runner. I think with a more positive ride, he’s dangerous.
Race 10. (17:55) Kia Ora Prague (Bm78) 1100m
15 Eye Of The Fire (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have returned in beast mode. Yes, kissed on the date with the ride/run first up, but even allowing for that, gee he was explosive when beating Kerguelen, who would be favourite here, or opened favourite anyway. Natural improvement, handles wet ground, hard to beat.
5 Confess Our Dreams (Bet Now: $SP.00) is creeping up in the relative weights but she is flying for Brad Widdup. Dominant track/distance win three weeks ago, getting the sweet sit in transit before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose. Harder here, but hard to knock the way she’s racing.
14 Passeggiata (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take running down. She ran over 1100m at Rosehill three weeks ago when attempting to lead throughout and she gave a decent kick from the front but had no answers late for Confess Our Dreams. Lands on speed, she’ll give a great sight.
