Race 1. (12:27) Sportsbet Handicap (76) 1800m
1 Komachi (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1800m after racing over 1500m two weeks ago at Gawler. The pattern was against him but he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Snoopy Now, with that form standing up deluxe at Murray Bridge last Saturday. Like him up in trip and the depth here is nowhere near as deep.
2 Yuri Royale (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous here. He ran second to Grinzinger Bishop two weeks ago at Gawler, chasing hard near the speed but was never getting past the leader and eventual winner. Back in trip is okay IMO and he’s racing in solid enough form.
5 Crown Mint (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1800m after racing two weeks back over 2100m at Gawler. He tried hard, ran an honest race but in a race dominated up/in, he was never really a factor, so I want to be forgiving of his effort behind Grinzinger Bishop. Better suited here, he’s a knockout hope.
Race 2. (13:02) Sportsbet Handicap (78) 2500m
2 Grinzinger Bishop (Bet Now: $SP.00) was stiff not to win two back on the Parks track here before backing up a week later at Gawler where he was ridden to suit the track pattern, sitting on speed, and he gave nothing else a look in to win quite impressively. 2500m is the query but last start was impressive and this isn’t a deep contest.
1 Lodbrok (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran over this trip at Pakenham two weeks ago. He got into a reasonable spot in transit and was there to threaten but just whacked in the run to the line behind Shockletz. Better suited at this level, he’s dangerous.
8 Harley N Rose (Bet Now: $SP.00) was 1800m to 2400m when racing three weeks back on the Parks track. He was there to win and looked the winner when presented but was nabbed late by Eventually. He has that 2400m run under the belt, which holds him in good stead.
Race 3. (13:37) Sportsbet Handicap (1MWLY) 1050m
4 Howl (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1050m after racing over 1200m at Gawler. He was ridden with intent to suit the pattern, settling closer, but it took away his best asset, his finale, when fourth to Three Rings. Better suited here, I think he’ll run a beauty.
3 Skipjack (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll for Phillip Stokes. First run for the stable after formerly being with Moody/Coleman. His last run was June 7 at Flemington down the straight when far from disgraced behind Salsa Fellow. Had two jumpouts in October but had a jumpout last week here and moved well. If he’s ready to go, he’ll take beating.
1 The Great Baby (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since resuming over 1000m on the Parks track when three and four wide no cover the trip and tired in the straight to finish down the track behind Mintulee. Better run in transit, he’s dangerous.
Race 4. (14:12) Sportsbet Maiden Plate 1200m
6 Wine Snob (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came over 1050m at Balaklava when wide and chasing the speed. He was comfortably held by Breakfast but did run a credible second. 1200m should be fine for him and he strikes a winnable maiden I say.
4 Scooped (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Derryn that is on debut for Richards/Moyle. He’s had a couple of trials under the belt to get ready for start one, and has seemingly moved well. Watch betting and see whether if it tells you if he’s ready to go.
9 Maldivica (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to maiden grade after racing over this trip two weeks back in a solid benchmark race and yes, was helped by the pattern, but she still kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Back up in trip, back to maiden grade, she’s in the mix.
Race 5. (14:47) Hahn Maiden Plate 1200m
6 Torpedoes (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to get another look for Michael Hickmott after his debut on the Parks track when kept very safe in betting. He found the front but just copped too much heat on speed and tired to finish down the track. Think with a more economical run in transit, he’ll take beating.
8 Dirty Old Town (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been strong in two career runs and is racing like a rise to 1200m will suit. She ran over 1050m at Balaklava last time when off speed and kept chasing without threatening when third to Breakfast. With luck from the draw, she’ll be around the mark.
4 Qatar (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Chris Waller, he now finds himself with Chris Bieg. He has shown promise throughout his career without winning but now with Bieg, jumpout work has been strong, watch betting.
Race 6. (15:22) Festival Hire Handicap (64) 1200m
11 Light The Night (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found that winning feeling and he can certainly go on with it. That win came in a maiden three weeks ago on the Parks track, producing an impressive finale from off speed to win and win nicely. This isn’t a deep race on paper so IMO he can measure up quite comfortably.
6 Thunder Shoc (Bet Now: $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Gawler. She just got too far back in the run and on a day where on speed was suited, she was never a winning threat but kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. Dangerous with a drag into the race.
7 Cork Harbour (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a first four contender. He was ridden with clear intent at Gawler two weeks back behind High On Sugar, giving a decent sight from in front but just felt the pinch late. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but is a must for exotics.
Race 7. (15:57) AIG Security Handicap (Class 2) 1200m
1 There Goes My Hero (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Bain/Taylor and seems to have found a very winnable race here. Couple of months between runs when racing two weeks ago at Gawler, getting back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat. Fitter, can settle closer, he’ll take holding out.
10 Taking Omaha (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win for Andrew Gluyas. Looked the winner when he landed on speed at Strathalbyn last time and was hailed as the winner but had to settle for a second to Florey. Good racing style, strong late and is genuine without winning. Commands respect.
3 Autumn Frost (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been given a mini freshen up since a win over 1300m on the Parks track, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Tick over jumpout win last Tuesday was sharp, good racing style and back to 1200m is fine.
Race 8. (16:37) Christmas Handicap 1200m
2 Watchme Win (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the winner if there is petrol in the tank. He contested the two Southside slot races, The Meteorite and The Supernova respectively. He was comfortably held in both runs but was far from disgraced, especially in The Supernova. He maps to stalk the speed and I think he’ll be too good.
1 Chicago Storm (Bet Now: $SP.00) was a very strong winner of the Gytrash Final two back here before racing on the Parks track when ridden with a sit and tried hard but had no answers for My Khalifa when second. Racing well, can press forward and be strong late.
5 Grinzinger Prince (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Nov 15 at Caulfield when far from disgraced in the Village Stakes behind Boston Rocks. Fresh is best for this guy and a recent tick over trial was very good I thought.
Race 9. (17:17) Thomas Farms Handicap (64) 1050m
4 Beauty Bound (Bet Now: $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over 1000m on the Parks track when wide no cover on speed and couldn’t quite finish it off, tiring late behind Mintulee. Tricky draw but with a better run in transit, her best is good enough to win.
6 Mercury Eight (Bet Now: $SP.00) did a really good job three weeks ago at Morphettville Parks. He attempted to lead throughout but copped heat. He was entitled to knock right up but he kept on and only felt the pinch very late in the piece behind Winning Revolution. He’ll be around the mark against these.
12 Smashing Action (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Justin Pickering trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since August 9 when third over 1000m at Mildura. Couple of strong jumpouts under the belt, watch betting.
Race 10. (18:00) The Fotobase Group Handicap (64) 1600m
5 Royal Fox (Bet Now: $SP.00) should love the rise to the mile after being 1400m back to 1350m at Strathalbyn last start. He just found them a bit sharp early but I did like the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Empire Grace. Like him up in trip, bigger track…good each way gamble.
6 Chur Nibble (Bet Now: $SP.00) was a dominant maiden winner last time out at Balaklava over the mile. He landed on speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. He’s found that winning feeling and he can certainly go on with it.
4 Maxxi Bon (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Former Victorian who is now in SA and his recent efforts back there haven’t been too bad for a race like this, I’d say with betting and see what it does.
