Cranbourne Cup 🏆: View the Field and Odds for the Cranbourne Cup
Race 1. (12:20) Reed Cranes & Haulage (Bm70) 1300m
7 Stealth Of Knight (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am leaning in the opener. Team Hayes trained mare that resumes, her last prep seeing her win two races at Pakenham and each time she was impressive. Liked a recent Caulfield Heath trial win from her, good racign style…hard to beat.
3 Madiyya (Bet Now: $SP.00) is better suited over further but she is a talented mare for Team Hayes that resumes. She hasn’t raced since May 31 when giving them a start and a beating to win over the mile at Caulfield, making it three on the bounce before being spelled. Jumped out welll, will be strong late, watch betting.
2 Veloce Carro (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is on the quick back up after racing last Wednesday at Caulfield Heath when off speed and was held up at times but was good late when eventually clear when fourth to Barbaric Lad. Not sure he wins, but can run top four.
Race 2. (12:50) Frankston Sand Soil & Mini Mix Hcp 1400m
3 St Edward (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been freshened up since a fourth in the Red Anchor on Cox Plate Day. He got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Napoleonic. The rise to 1400m looks fine and the depth here is nowhere near as deep.
5 Mongolian Gobi (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) has been kept on the fresh side since Bendigo Cup Day when a narrow second over 1300m, sitting near the speed and tried hard but just missed out on the win. Tick over jumpout was strong, good racing style and 1400m is fine.
1 Vega For Luck (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) comes back in grade/depth after racing on Cup Day in the Amanda Elliott. He was terrible late although was quite keen in the run behind the speed and had no petrol tickets left for the straight. If he brings his best, he can threaten.
Race 3. (13:25) Rhino The Wrecker Toryboy (Bm70) 2540m
I want to give 4 Natural Rider (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) another chance. I was quite keen on him on Geelong Cup Day and the market did gravitate towards him but he had every chance and was one of the first beat in a plain effort. He ran well well first up at Mornington so I want to forgive and give him another chance here.
7 Hot Too Go (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Caulfield when on speed and he tried hard but just felt the pinch late behind Black Run. Good racing style, has that 2400m run under the belt and gets Willow back aboard.
11 Salsita (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back in trip after racing over 4000m on Ararat Cup Day. He got back off speed but tried to make a sustained run from off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Guido. He’ll be strong late and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.
Race 4. (14:00) Rosemont Stud F&M Pendant Hcp 1400m
1 Keep Your Cool (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is a ripper for Ciaron Maher and commands respect. She kept chipping away in the Inglis Bracelet last start and was there to win but the end of 1600m just found her out late in the piece. Looks hard to beat against these with that run under the belt.
5 Gumdrops (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) is one of the hardest to beat for Chris Waller after her fourth in the HKJC on Cup Day where she got back to near last in the run but worked home quite strongly when fourth to Dance To The Boom. This looks well within her reach.
4 Ahha Ahha (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) was a total forgive when resuming on Bendigo Cup Day. She got badly held up in behind them before eventually getting clear and was good late in the piece. She has runs on the board from last prep and with home track advantage, good upside, she takes beating.
Race 5. (14:35) Freeway Ford Shooting Stars Hcp (C3) 1500m
3 Chest Of Gold (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a talented gelding for Julius Sandhu and can take this out. He ran over 1400m here last time out when opting for a sit and he was quite keen behind the speed. That burning of petrol just took away something from his finale. I think with a more positive steer, he’ll take holding out.
1 Acelum (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) has been kept on the fresh side for Team Hayes since a win on Sale Cup Day, handling the bog track best and was too good in the run to the line. Freshened up to 1500m I like and a recent tick over jumpout at Seymour was quite good I thought.
6 Astral Flame (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) has home track advantage and should appreciate firmer footing after racing on a complete bog at Pakenham last start and he struggled to pick his feet up late in the piece. Better suited here, he can run a much improved race.
Race 6. (15:10) John Duff & Co The Lester (Bm84) 2025m
5 Shockletz (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another chance. She ran on Oaks Day at Flemington where I was quite keen on her chances but she didn’t really fire after a soft trip, with Harry saying post race that she seemed to resent being between runners. With room to move here, she can bounce back.
8 Hurry Curry (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) steps up to 2000m after resuming over the mile at The Valley when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good return behind Coco Jen. Fitter and up in trip, good upside to come, she can win.
4 Flash Feeling (Bet Now: $SP.00) is probably on trial for the Ballarat Cup if he runs well here. Had too much weight to carry at Flemington on Cup Day behind Party Crasher and was never really a factor. Gets right down in the weights after the claim, he’s a big improver.
Race 7. (15:45) Unox Casa Lawson Poole Plate (Bm80) 1200m
9 Let’sfacethemusic (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat here. He resumed on Bendigo Cup Day when off speed and was quite keen in the run. He dashed and loomed but just died on the run late. Better for the run and if he can relax better, he’ll take holding out.
1 Mytemptation (Bet Now: $SP.00) has home track advantage and is racing really well. He ran on Ararat Cup Day over 1300m when on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when second to Run Harry Run. Good racing style, should slide across and prove hard to beat.
10 Actuality (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) should appreciate firmer footing after finding a bog track down the straight two weeks ago at Flemington so forgive and forget the effort behind Grand Larceny. Much better suited here, I think she can bounce back and run a much improved race.
Race 8. (16:25) Cranbourne Cup 1600m
14 Enxuto (Bet Now: $SP.00) has home track advantage and should be ready to go. He ran over the mile at Flemington on Oaks Day when just off speed and presented to win but lacked the dash required to win when fourth to Apulia. May not have handled the back up? Not sure, but now with the break between runs, I think he’ll run a beauty.
15 Sabaj (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) does seem the most obvious given his Stakes Day win. But, I will say that track was very testing and it would have taken a fair bit out of him. Plus, he is a big boy so how will he handle Cranbourne? The flip side is that he is the best horse in the race re upside/progression and has more levels to reach. Market will be fascinating.
3 Air Assault (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found a purple patch for Andrew Gluyas. He has won two on the bounce, firstly in the Gawler Cup before making a mess of them in the John Letts on Cup Day at Morphettville. He’ll be strong late and maps ideally.
Race 9. (17:05) The Meteorite 1200m
3 Nadal (Bet Now: $SP.00) won this race last year and can bounce back from last start. He ran two weeks ago at Flemington on the bottomless track and didn’t fire a shot at all. He didn’t have the gutbuster like some on that day because he didn’t produce the big effort like others. He can bounce back hard.
4 Watchme Win (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) appeals here. Three weeks between runs since racing in the Rising Fast on Derby Day when near the speed and tried hard. Just lacked the quality to go with them late when fourth to Caballus. That form does read quite well for this.
14 Jenni The Fox (Bet Now: $SP.00) has home track advantage but comes back to 1200m from 1400m. That 1400m run saw her place in the HKJC on Cup Day when off speed and worked home really well late in the piece. Not the best of overall records, but she’s sneaky flying and will be strong late.
Race 10. (17:40) Hertz Geoff Whiffin Sprint (Bm74) 1000m
13 Celerity (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with James Cummings, she is now with Ciaron Maher and the stable has really flown with the Godolphin runners. This girl has always shown good talent but at times hasn’t quite lived up to the potential. She has looked strong in jumpout work and strikes a winnable race for the return.
1 Gin A Tonic (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) has been kept on ice since a first up win over 955m at The Valley when on speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well. Gets the claim, lands on speed and will take running down.
7 The Showvinist (Bet Now:Â $SP.00) has been freshened up since Oct 24 when resuming in a 955m at The Valley. He was just run off his legs and was never really a factor behind Gin A Tonic. Much better suited here I feel andhis jumpout work prior was strong.
