2011 CF Orr Stakes & Blue Diamond Preludes previews

IASbet expert racing analyst, Gerard Twomey previews the CF Orr Stakes and the Blue Diamond Preludes.

Caulfield Race 7: CF Orr Stakes

Traditionally The Orr has been dominated by on-pace runners and that looks likely again, with this year looking no different. In the early stages, we can expect Danzylum to cross and lead from Typhoon Tracy, with Heart Of Dreams in the box seat and Doubtful Jack following his stable mate.

Typhoon Tracy found the line well when resuming, running the fastest closing sectionals and, despite her knockers, gets her chance to win another Group One here. If the forecast rain does arrive, Doubtful Jack comes right into the race with his superior wet track form.

An interesting runner is Moudre who has a good fresh record and Craig Williams has opted to ride him with a view to the big autumn races, rather than Ortensia – who was a little disappointing when resuming and will need a better tempo than we envisage.

Caulfield Races 4 & 5: Blue Diamond Preludes

In the colts division, Sepoy is all the rage after his dominant win last time and looks set to continue his winning way here. Boys On Tour was disappointing when odds on at Sandown but has the blinkers here and can improve while Peter MoodyÒ€ℒs first starter Huegill attracts plenty of attention.

The fillies division looks a very competitive race. One Last Dance had a tough run covering ground last time and may be ridden a touch quietly here with a view to the grand final in a couple of weeks time. Stable mate Hallowell Belle showed plenty on debut in Sydney for Gai Waterhouse and since being moved down here sheÒ€ℒs trialled well. Another in interesting runner is Quench The Thirst who had no chance from the wide alley on debut and could surprise here.
