Darley stallion New Approach got his career off to the ideal start when his first runner, Dawn Approach, made a winning debut at The Curragh on Sunday.
Trainer Jim Bolger expertly handled New Approach to win five Group Ones, including the Derby, during his two-year racing career.
He is also the trainer of Dawn Approach, sent off the even money favourite for his debut over five furlongs (1000m).
Kevin Manning positioned his mount close to the pace in the early stages and the two-year-old quickened impressively to put the race to bed, scoring by 1-3/4 lengths from Canary Row.
โI was hoping he would win it but you never know what is in these races,โ Bolger said.
โHe is a very laid-back colt, a bit different to his old man.
โI wouldnโt be getting carried away with him.
โHopefully we will be back here in September with him (for the National Stakes).โ
New Approach shuttles between Australia and the northern hemisphere and has five yearlings entered in next monthโs Easter sale in Sydney.
