Monday is poised to be a decisive day in the impending merger of the Pakenham and Cranbourne racing clubs, as members from each club prepare to cast their votes on the proposal.
The success of the merger hinges on securing a minimum of a 75 percent ‘yes’ vote from each membership base during the separate Annual General Meetings (AGMs) scheduled at Pakenham and Cranbourne.
Cranbourne Turf Club CEO, Neil Bainbridge, emphasised the significance of this crucial step, stating, “The merger vote is being held at Pakenham and Cranbourne on Monday evening, so that’s an important milestone for the establishment of the super club.”
Both the Pakenham and Cranbourne clubs will conduct their AGMs on Monday, during which members will have the opportunity to vote on the special resolution endorsing the merger, as recommended by the committees of both clubs.
Bainbridge expressed confidence in the positive outcome of the votes, emphasizing the broader implications of the merger for the future of racing in Victoria. He remarked, “We’re confident, it’s a good deal for the industry, a good deal for the members, a good deal for the clubs. It’s exciting; it will kick on racing in the southeast.”
