Randwick has sizzled through a warm day on the first day of The Championships as a stylish velvet combination won the fashions on the field.
Crystal Kimber said she loved the material, as she paired it with a sleek white top draped over one shoulder and a black beret.
“It’s still pretty warm in Sydney so I wanted to go with something light, but I love velvet. I love the texture and I think it’s really nice for winter,” Ms Kimber told AAP.
“The berets are quite on trend now too.”
The winner designed the dress herself, while her mother Gail made it.
“It took us about two weeks, it’s lots of fun together.”
