Former Victoria Derby winner Tarzino has landed his first win as a sire with the win of Jungle Magnate at Sandown.
Jungle MagnateĀ has provided his dual Group 1 winning sireĀ TarzinoĀ with his first winner in stylish fashion at Sandown.
TarzinoĀ won the 2015 Victoria Derby and 2016 Rosehill Guineas in his career under the guidance of Mick PriceĀ who with Michael Kent JrĀ prepared Jungle Magnate to win theĀ ClanbrookeĀ Racing Handicap (1400m) on Wednesday.
Kent Jr joined Price in a training partnership a little over two year ago and said it was unfortunate he was not around whenĀ TarzinoĀ won his two Group 1 races.
āAll the team remind me how good he was, he was really cheeky,ā Kent Jr said.
āAnd we love the stallion going forward. They can only get better as they turn three and four, you would imagine.
āTarzinoĀ was a Derby winner, he was a very good-looking horse, he throws very sound, clean-winded horses and this guy is a lovely example of a colt by the stallion.ā
Ridden by Mark Zahra, Jungle Magnate ($8) raced to a long-head win from the $2.40 favourite Mac āNā Cheese with BackĀ InĀ TheĀ Day ($8.50) three-quarters-of-a-length away third.
Kent Jr said the stable has fiveĀ TarzinoĀ youngsters in their care.
āThey show a lot of speed and this horse was galloping with our nicer two-year-oldsĀ last prep and he was going better than some of them, but we just had to cool his jets.
āThis time weāve done a good job of getting him to switch off, relax and finish off his races.
āWeĀ told the owners it would be no surprise if he wins, but weāre here to educate him.
āHe didnāt win by a big margin, but itās never easy to come here at your first start.
āHe got quiteĀ coltyĀ out the back there and he was in front quite a long way from home, so heās done a good job.ā
