Star jockey Blake Shinn has been transported to hospital with a suspected broken left leg after a fall at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.
Shinn was unseated from She’s Got Pizzazz ($21) in the home straight when the mare was tightened for room around the 225-metre mark.
After coming down, Shinn appeared to be struck by two trailing horses. On-course medical staff confirmed that he was conscious following the incident.
Shinn had been booked to partner the $9 chance Just A Journey in Thursday’s Group 1 VRC Oaks.
She’s Got Pizzazz returned to the Flemington stables and was undergoing veterinary assessment as a precaution.
