Star International raider dies following injury

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Wichita has has sadly died at Macedon Lodge after suffering a complication while recovering from surgery.

Wichita who was brought to Australia and targeted at the Golden Eagle or the Cantala Stakes has been euthanised at Macedon Lodge after complications following surgery which was required after the horse fractured his right hind leg in trackwork at Werribee.

β€œRV extends its condolences to the owners of the horse, trainer Aidan O’Brien, his stable staff and all who cared for the horse and are greatly saddened by their loss,” the statement said.

The news comes after Racing Victoria announced they would investigate the death of another international at Werribee training complex on Friday.
