Seven days after facing international performer Asfoora and Sangster Stakes winner Climbing Star, Sir Sway will appreciate somewhat of a drop back in company as mother and son training pair Sue and Jason Jaensch take their stable flagbearer to Oakbank for the first of two days of the traditional Easter Carnival in the Adelaide Hills.
The Listed Hills Railway Stakes (1100m) on Saturday does have a quality line-up but the absence of names as mentioned, and others with high aspirations during the upcoming Adelaide Racing Carnival brings the likes of Sir Sway right into contention for the stable pairing to notch their third black-type victory as a training combination.
Sir Sway finished eighth in the Group 3 R N Irwin Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville last Saturday and finished three lengths from Asfoora who once again has Royal Ascot and other overseas aspirations in 2025.
âWe thought we might as well back him up here and then he can go three weeks into The Goodwood,â Jason said with reference to the Group 1 1200-metre feature on May 10.
âThe Goodwood is our aim.â
Drawn barrier 11, Sir Sway is the $2.60 favourite for Saturdayâs sprint feature with the consistent Extremely Luck at $5 and consistent performer Taunting at $5.50.
âIt is a little bit easier field this time but still tough enough in its own right,â he added.
âThe barrier isnât really a problem as he hasnât really drawn on the track at all this preparation so weâre not too concerned with the draw.
âWe hadnât really looked at this race and initially thought that this race wouldnât fit in but he ran really well on Saturday and mum was like, âwould you think about facing him up againâ, so I thought about it and heâs pulled up fine so why not have a go and see what happens.âJake Toeroek is not regular name to appear aboard horses trained by the Jaenschâs but they are taking extra confidence into the race after Toeroekâs manager made contact soon after nominations came out on Monday.
