Time and experience are expected to be the friend of Golden PathĀ who will line up for his third race start at Flemington.
The Mick Price andĀ Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper runs in the Silver Bowl Series Final (1600m) on Saturday following a debut win at Geelong andĀ a last startĀ narrow loss at Sandown.
That narrow loss at Sandown was behind Hard To Cross, an opponent on Saturday, and Kent Jnr believes the three-year-old can turn the tables.
Kent Jnr said Golden Path, a son of Irish stallion Belardo,Ā hadĀ possibly costĀ himself victory by losing his action early in the straight.
HeĀ described the geldingās action as āgiraffe likeā as he raced down the dip on the Hillside track at Sandown on June 10.
āHeās up against the horse that beat him last time, but he did a bit wrong,ā Kent Jnr said.
āIt was his second start, and he came down the dip just after straightening andĀ heāsĀ got a bit of a giraffe action onĀ him,Ā and it took a while to get organised.
āOnce he got organised, he really knuckled late and just missed.
āThe flatter track, more experience, more seasoning, that will help him on Saturday.ā
While there were excuses for Golden Path at Sandown,Ā Kent Jnr also believesĀ the geldingĀ is still 12 months away from reaching his full potential.
āHeāsĀ aĀ very promising, exciting horse, but a very raw, scopey, narrow type and hisĀ best is still 12 months away, at least,ā Kent Jnr said.
āHeāsĀ drawn well for the mileĀ especiallyĀ being the last race at Flemington on the day.
āHeāsĀ meeting the same sort of horsesĀ that he ran against at Sandown, other thanĀ Brung King, which is goingĀ really well.
āBut he can certainly runĀ really well.ā
