Nine-time Group 1 winner Mr Brightside may have jarred up following Saturday’s All-Star Mile, but he remains on course for next month’s race in Hong Kong.
Despite a valiant effort for second behind Tom Kitten, co-trainer Ben Hayes confirmed the seven-year-old struggled with the firm track, which had been upgraded to a Good 3 shortly before the race.
“He jarred up out of the run,” Hayes explained. “It’s nothing bad, just a bruised heel.”
While a run in the George Ryder Stakes is in doubt, Hayes noted, “If not, we’ll go to Hong Kong most likely.”
With the Group 1 Champions Mile in Hong Kong set for April 27, Hayes reassured that the stable wasn’t concerned if Mr Brightside didn’t race before then, adding, “He’ll probably have a jumpout and maybe two.”
