Michelle Payne fined over controversial comments

Michelle Payne has been fined over comments she made about the state of the Sandown track on Wednesday.

The Melbourne Cup winning jockey was slapped with a $500 fine after suggesting on Twitter that racing on such a firm Good 3 surface was being ‘cruel’ to horses.

“Track looks like it’s been rolled or something, has no natural bounce. It’s cruel to be racing horses on a surface like that.” Payne tweeted.

The comments have since been removed and and apology was issued on Friday morning.

It’s not the first time Payne has been fined for comments made on Social Media. Last year Payne was fined $1500 for criticizing then Flemington track manager Mick Goodie and calling for him to stand down.
