Trainer Andreas Wohler … who won the 2014 Melbourne Cup with Protectionist … is recovering in Germany from a health setback.
Wohler underwent emergency treatment after he complained of stomach pain. He had initially tried various remedies himself but, with nothing bringing him any relief, he was, apparently reluctantly, obliged to seek help.
He visited the emergency unit where a doctor was able to confirm that the fifty-nine-year old had suffered a heart attack.
Reports suggest that, while Wohler is still under observation, is currently doing well.
Wohler is a well-travelled and highly respected trainer on the international front with his horses having saluted at the highest level in his home country, Australia, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore and Italy.
