Following a race fall at Sandown, apprentice jockey Luke Campbell, is currently under observation at Alfred Hospital.
The West Australian rider, who remained conscious after the incident, is being assessed for suspected shoulder and knee soreness.
Initial scans on his shoulder have fortunately ruled out any fractures.
The accident occurred during the opening event of Sunday’s program when Campbell was dislodged from his mount, Naval Academy, after clipping heels at the 800m mark.
While fellow riders Blake Shinn, Craig Williams, and Mick Dee provided their accounts to stewards, the hearing has been temporarily adjourned to accommodate Campbell’s testimony.
The Victorian Jockeys Association (VJA) has confirmed that further scans will be conducted to ascertain the extent of Campbell’s knee injury.
