Stradbroke Handicap winner Under The Louvre will be out to add another Group One win to his name before he heads to stud.
The six-year-old, who runs in Saturday’s Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm, will stand at Queensland’s Grandview Stud in the spring.
“Under the Louvre had incredible acceleration,” trainer Robert Smerdon said.
“He mixed it with the best and in the Stradbroke he faced nine Group One winners including Black Heart Bart.
“I inherited the horse as a three-year-old but he was originally picked out as a yearling by Tony Vasil who has such a great eye.”
Under The Louvre will stand at $7,700 in his first season alongside Jet Spur and Whittington at the property near Ipswich.
“Under The Louvre is arguably the most exciting racehorse to enter stud in Queensland for many years,” Grandview’s Michael Grieve said.
“Not only did he win the Stradbroke, but he also raced against and beat the best in Melbourne too. He was very adaptable.”
Under The Louvre, who will be ridden on Saturday by his 2016 Stradbroke jockey Dwayne Dunn, is an $18 chance at Luxbet with Black Heart Bart the $3.50 favourite.
