Golden Eagle contender scratched from field

Racing NSW Stewards have approved the withdrawal of Toorak Handicap winner Attrition from the Golden Eagle at Rosehill on Saturday.

Trainer Mitch Freedman informed Stewards that Attrition had swelling in the right hock, accompanied by lameness.

He had ridden Attrition in trackwork on Thursday morning and found it uncomfortable, deeming it unsuitable for the race.

Racing NSW Chief Vet Dr. Peter Curl confirmed this decision after consultation with Mr. Freedman and the stable vet.

Attrition, a $26 chance with online bookmakers, was set to be ridden by Beau Mertens and had drawn barrier 19 in the $10 Golden Eagle.
