Group 1-winning trainer Chris Calthorpe has been penalised a total of $5000 following a positive swab returned by his runner Divine Turf and breaches relating to treatment record-keeping.
Racing Victoria stewards finalised their investigation into the detection of O-Desmethyltramadol in a pre-race sample taken at Kyneton in November.
Calthorpe pleaded guilty to presenting the horse with O-Desmethyltramadol in its system, resulting in Divine Turf being disqualified from its fifth placing in the race.
He also entered a guilty plea to failing to maintain appropriate treatment records. Specifically, between September 8 2025 and November 27 2025, he did not record the administration of Kenacort joint injections to horses in his stable.
Calthorpe was issued a $3500 fine for the prohibited substance offence and a further $1500 fine for the record-keeping breach.
