Corey Brown is in doubt for Saturday’s Chipping Norton Stakes meeting after being struck by a horse as it reared and fell in the tie-up stalls at the Randwick barrier trials on Friday.
The top jockey had just mounted an unraced three-year-old, Polly, in the horse stalls area when the filly took fright and flipped over.
Brown has been taken to hospital for tests.
“Corey was complaining of pain in the chest, ribs, shoulder and back,” Racing NSW’s jockey safety officer Maurice Logue said.
“He also has lacerations to his hands and legs.”
The jockey has a strong book of rides at Warwick Farm including Centennial Park in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes and Parables in the Group Two Surround Stakes.
